Homemade Easy Filipino Crab Relleno Recipe

Growing up on an island feels like a little blessing. I was lucky to grow up surrounded by the sea, where fresh-caught fish and seafood were always within reach. From simple family meals to special dishes prepared for celebrations, seafood has always been part of our table and a big part of my childhood memories.

One of the dishes that brings back those island memories is Crab Relleno. There’s something extra special about using freshly caught crabs, taking the meat out, preparing a flavorful filling, and stuffing it back into the shell.

It may take a little extra time and effort to prepare, but for me, Crab Relleno is more than just a delicious Filipino dish—it’s a taste of home, island life, and the simple joy of growing up with fresh seafood right from the sea.

Binignit Recipe

Howdy, dear readers! It’s been a long time since I last shared a native recipe. For this year 2025, here’s my first recipe to share. It’s a local dessert food mostly served during Holy Week. This delicious afternoon snack has many different names depending on your location. In my hometown in Samar, it’s called Ginat-an. For Visayan people, it’s called Binignit, and for Tagalog, it’s called Ginataang Bilo-Bilo.
