Sweetened Plantain Banana (Minatamis na Saging Saba)

One of the Philippine common dessert dishes is the so-called “minatamis na saging saba” (sweetened plantain banana). Easy to prepare and you don’t need to spend much bucks for the ingredients.


  • Water
  • Brown Sugar
  • Salt
  • Banana Plantains
  • Vanilla Extract



Combine water, brown sugar and salt in a saucepan. Stir to dissolve and bring to boil. Sliced the plantain banana into the desired size add to the combined boiling mixture and vanilla. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes over medium heat or until the plantain banana are tender and syrup thickens. Remove from heat. Serve and have a happy dessert!
