A 45-minute boat ride from the town of Lavezares and just a 5-minute ride on a motorcycle from the town proper, these magnificent towering rock formations sculpted naturally trough time by the ferocious waves of the Pacific Ocean and tidal currents of the San Bernardino Channel.

About Biri Island
An island located in the northern most Tip of the province of Northern Samar, facing the blue Ocean of Pacific to the East and the famous San Bernardo Strait to the West. An island rich in fish, squids and other marine products and has been said to be a “City of Lights” when people are out of the sea to catch squids.
Biri Island can be reached in 12 hours by bus or private vehicle from Manila or in approximate 1 hour and 15-minutes flight from Manila to Catarman (capital town of Northern Samar). From Catarman, it takes 30-minute ride to Lavezares (the ump-off pint) and from Lavezares, it also takes 45-minute ride by pump-boat going to Biri Island.

Lovely post with nice info about a place very unfamiliar to me, being Dutch and having very rarely been travelling so far . But who knows, maybe someday I will visit this place that you describe so beautifully.

Looking at the photo you posted, it seemed like some nice cliff in Ireland. 🙂 Wow, it’s beautiful and I’m not even a big fan of beaches or big bodies of water. But the view is beautiful.
It’s my first time to hear about the Islet of Biri but it looks like such a beautiful place! I hope I could visit it one of these days.
I have never been into Samar and this would be a great way to visit the place, something that would you look up to… I wish my husband gets a lot of time during our vacation so he’ll also be able to see and experience the breathtaking scenery.

Wow! Paradise that is Sis. Gosh! Look at how gorgeous the water is. I have never been to Catarman. There are so many beautiful places to explore in our native country. I wish that someday my family can explore.
