Being their first teacher, we mom should take the time help our kids learn how to doing this thing called money management. I have here an infographic sent to me by a fellow Samareno from MoneyMax.ph, it’s about the 10 Money Principles Kids Should Learn

  1. Financial freedom is your choice! Choose to grow up financially free.
  2. Creating financial freedom is a matter of developing the right habits. Develop and establish financial habits early on in life.
  3. Pay yourself first. Put your money to work for you to get and stay wealthy.
  4. It’s better to tell your money where to go than ask where it went. Know where your money is going and plan how much you spend and save each month.
  5. Assets feed you, liabilities eats you. Remember that assets put money in your pocket and liabilities take money out of your pocket.
  6. Don’t put all your financial eggs in one basket. Invest wisely in three pillars of wealth: stock market, real estate and business.
  7. Save early, save often. It’s not compound interest but compound growth effect of investing that help people get rich and become financially free.
  8. It’s not how much money you make that’s important. It’s about learning to better manage and invest money that you already have.
  9. Money is a tool to reach your dreams. Money is not the end result, but it is the tool to help you build financial freedom and security.
  10. Make Money grow by putting it to work for you. Invest and put money to work for you to produce ongoing cash flow and have more money coming in than going out.

All these might be sound difficult, but who said that teaching kid’s money management are easy? It’s not, but it can be very fun!

Thank you for posting this. I see so many young people today not have any clue about what lies ahead when they are in their 60’s and its time to retire. Social Security won’t sustain life by itself. Multiple streams of income makes a difference and even putting in a few dollars a month during your working years or more, makes a huge difference.

It’s important to teach the kids about being responsible for their money. These are very good pointers for kids. I made sure to teach my twins about the value of saving as they were growing up.

We have done most of the items in the list when the kids were growing up. I am just not sure if I am ready to jump into the stock market bandwagon. Maybe if I get to speak with a reliable, trustworthy stock broker, I might be convinced to do so.

It’s really important to teach the kids about being more responsible about the money that they receive and earn. These are awesome, it’s nice to let them know what happens when they save and put their money to good use.

Kids should learn this. As this is the age of modernization, no-one thinks of future savings. For a better future kids should be taught moving savings idea.

Very helpful post. I taught my children the importance of saving and to how to be wise with their money. I know they see how much hard work we put in to give them a good life and I make sure they know that I too, am putting aside money for emergencies, college funds, or even a vacation. I think the best way for children to learn how to handle their finances is for us parents to be good examples.
